From the north of Europe to the top of the world: Norwegian winners 'Bacon' and 'Larsto50' are ready to take on the world’s top ice hockey nations at the IIHF Esports Fan Championship.
In sporting terms, Norway often stands in the shadow of the more successful Nordic ice hockey teams from Sweden and Finland. At the 2020 IIHF Esports Fan Championship this could be set to change, as the Norwegian duo proved what they are capable of. On PlayStation 4, Lars Petter 'Larsto50' Sto had to eliminate six opponents to qualify for the playoffs. In the quarter-finals, he was brought to the brink of defeat. But from the beginning: In the first three rounds, 'Larsto50' convinced against 'skuddet' (8-1), 'RageGamern' (9-1) and 'Gaute Eliassen' (8-1) and became the favourite of the tournament early on. In the round of the last eight he almost tripped against 'Olem', but managed to win 4-3 in a hard-fought match. In the semi-finals (7-3 against 'Elias26') and in the 3-1 final win against Kyrre 'KyrreSvarstad' Svarstad, he regained his dominance and proved to be a worthy representative of Norway.
The Xbox One winner Daniel 'Bacon' Baekken ignited some offensive fireworks in the qualifier: In two games he scored 16 goals, and in the semi-final alone he scored ten goals against 'Bakken' (10:0). In the previous round he was given a walk-through, but in the final too he left no doubt about his NHL™ 20 talent. In an exciting match he deservedly won 6:4 against Erlend 'Mr. Chernobyl' Kristiansen.
With two star gamers leading the charge, 'Bacon' and 'Larsto50' are ready to give their home country a sense of achievement on the international stage when they meet the duos from the other nations. The two qualifier winners will also be rewarded with two preliminary-round tickets to see Norway compete at the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, 100 euros prize money and an IIHF Esports Fan Championship Puck.
