On Friday, Belarus found its two playoff representatives for the 2020 IIHF Esports Fan Championship - Dzmitry 'NEFINOR' Harbounou and Aliaksandr 'Sonic_BLR' Yalasheuski.
Both gamers managed to prevail out of a highly competitive group to represent their country in this first-ever IIHF Esports competition. The large Belarusian fan community now has two champions with the chance to win a big title for their country: the first-ever IIHF Esports Fan Championship. To do so, the two best Belarusian EA SPORTS™ NHL 20™ players have to beat the representatives of the 15 other national teams from the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
The final of the Xbox tournament was a show of power by 'NEFINOR': With a 10:2 score he swept his opponent Yauheni 'Zhokaboka' Susko out and secured his playoff ticket. It seems that the semi-final was the decisive match. In this match 'NEFINOR' won 3-2 against Ivan 'Ivandersar03' Nachaunoi. In the rounds before he eliminated 'Chicago_JTPK' (4:2) and 'Bubaburik' (3:0).
His comrade-in-arms is called 'Sonic_BLR'. On the way to the tournament victory he was able to eliminate six opponents, but there were some thrilling moments, like the 4:3 in the quarterfinals against 'vova8047416'. Also the final was open until the last minute, in the end 'Sonic_BLR' won 2:1 against Uladzislau 'Dzadzik' Zankavets. In addition to the playoff, the two qualifier winners will each receive two tickets to see their national team compete on home ice at the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, 100 euros prize money and a special commemorative puck. Congratulations to our Belarusian national champions and good luck in the playoffs!
