The last day of the qualification for the IIHF Esports Fan Championship produced the two Swedish representatives: Sebastian 'SebbeLarsen86' Larsen and Henrik 'eken45jr' Eklund.

The Swedes are ready for the title mission at the 2020 IIHF Esports Fan Championship: Two NHL™ 20 experts won the qualifying tournaments on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Friday. 'SebbeLarsen86' had to compete against 84 other players on the Sony console. Without a walk-through he started directly in the first round against 'fbklover61' with a 6:1 victory. Also in his second game he scored six goals, 'Marrangen28' was left behind at 2:6. The third round was a bit tighter, 'Frompa-' challenged Larsen 4:2.

In the round of the last 16, 'SebbeLarsen86' shone with flawless defensive work, 'HHC' didn't miss a trick with a smooth 3:0. Against 'xwirran' (3:1) he had to concede another goal, but he still made it into the semifinals. In an offensive exchange of blows with 'I-Furyan-I' (6-4) Larsen qualified for the final game, which turned out to be the last demonstration of power: 'SebbeLarsen86' beat Christoffer 'Maise' Berntsson 6:1 and sent an exclamation mark to the international competition of the remaining 15 countries.

Following Larsen is 'eken45jr', who won the Xbox national championship in a convincing manner. Already in round one, Eklund made it clear that he is to be expected in the 6:1 win over 'Klyddas'. In the following 3:1 against 'DAFA 03' his attack engine stalled slightly, but 'eken45jr' should quickly find its power again. 'CommonSubset7' got a taste of its potential in the quarterfinals, but got off relatively lightly at 2:8. Semifinal opponent BallsToYalls were much worse off, with Eklund knocking him out of the tournament with a dozen goals and a 12:0 win that reflected his true strength.

Once the ball started rolling, 'eken45jr' could not be stopped in the final. Kevin 'karlsson03' Rosén Karlsson, who has been floating through the rounds with a great deal of confidence so far, had hardly any chance against the Dominator on the Microsoft console in the 2:7 win.

With Eklund and Larsen, Team Sweden is ready as usual to challenge for gold. The two qualifier winners will also be rewarded with two tickets each to see Sweden compete at the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championship game, 100 euros prize money and an IIHF Esports Fan Championship Puck for their performances.
